Savoury arabian beans

This is a wonderfully tasty, fragrant and rich dish. Don’t let the long list of ingredients put you off, as it is incredibly simple to make, and it is worth it. It suits a cold sauce, crusty bread and raw or pickled vegetables. Yuuuum!! Enjoy!

  • 1/2 onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 red chilis
  • 1 pinch cinnamon, ground
  • 1 pinch allspice, ground
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika, dried
  • 1/2 tsp mint, dried
  • 2 pinch salt
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can beans of your choice
  • 1/2 dl water
  • 1 dl parsley, fresh chopped
  • 2 tbsp oil
  1. Finely chop the onion, garlic and chili and gently fry in oil 4-5 minutes.
  2. Now add all the spices, including the mint and fry 1-2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomato paste and sugar, and after 1 minute, add the finely chopped tomato. Gently stir fry 3-4 minutes until the tomatoes thicken and then add the water.
  4. Add the rinsed beans and simmer 1 minute, then check the seasoning. Finally stir in the chopped parsley and serve!
